Mistaken Identity
The first time that I saw Alec in my cell at Manticore, I had mistaken him for Ben. Those of us who had escaped in ’09 had no idea that Manticore could have and would have cloned us. Even after I’d seen a younger version of myself in the forest outside of Manticore, I hadn’t thought that Manticore had cloned all of us on such a large scale.

And then Alec had entered my cell and I was surprised. I still wrote it off as a one off, after all, I would have encountered other clones of myself and my siblings in Manticore and when I burned the place down. It wasn’t until Sam that I realized just what Manticore had done and at what scale it had been done. And that realization scared me.

Sam had caused more than enough trouble with people mistaking her for me; but if each of us had at least one clone (if not multiple clones) then it could jeopardize all of us who didn’t want to go back to life before Manticore’s facility in Wyoming had been blown up. I know that I wasn’t the only one who didn’t believe that just because the facility had been blown up meant that Manticore was truly dead.

If one of our clones got into the wrong hands, what type of damage could that cause for all of us who didn’t want to go back to Manticore? I don’t even want to think what another clone in the hands of White and his cult could do to those of us who just want to live normal lives in society.

Despite the fear that I feel, I find the need to keep it to myself. I can’t worry the others with something that might never materialize. After all, Sam couldn’t wait to get out of Seattle with her family, and her actions had been motivated by the desire to protect them. And Alec wasn’t Ben no matter how he looked like him. There was no proof that any of our clones out there was really a threat to us because it was possible that they all wanted the same things that we wanted: freedom and normality. Two things that Manticore or White’s cult could never provide them with.
